UNIQUE & INEXPENSIVE SWIMSUITS FOR YOUR BODY TYPE

I'm just going to say it... I like how I look in swimsuits. I have learned to love my shape over the years - big ol' booty and all! I know that so many people have an issue finding suits that they approve of... but I honestly have an easier time with swimwear than with clothing. I think I look better without clothing on than with, and I also think a LOT of other people do too. It doesn't help that long-torsoed people don't have as many one-piece options either, so bikinis are my easiest choice.

I also know what I don't like in swimwear. I don't like small bikini bottoms that show my buns (I like to keep that skin hidden), I don't like swimwear that hits right at the love-handles and cuts into them, and I don't like tops that aren't supportive enough.

This year I bought a swimsuit online for the second time and it was still a little nerve-wracking. Last year I loved the top I ordered, but the bottoms were too small and they didn't even make a larger size! So back it went... This year I ordered a matching set along with a pair of miss-matched bottoms, and I love all three! I ordered them from the same place as before, ASOS. I felt comfortable because they have free shipping (over $25), free returns, and a billion suits for cheap. I am not being paid or compensated in ANY way from anyone for this post. I seriously just love this website.

I love miss-matched suits. These sets are a little more unexpected than usual, sure to give you a totally unique look! I've classified these by body-type as well, to best accentuate your assets!

green twist top $17| blue triangle top $15 | yellow stripe top $30 | floral top $38
fruity bottoms $30 | tapestry bottoms $30 | seersucker bottoms $34 | black polka dot bottoms $30

cloud top $10 | pink floral top $30 | fruity top $30 | pink polka dot top $32
white bottoms $19 | blue polka dot bottoms $15 | green bottoms $15 | navy ruffle bottoms $13

And what am I sporting this summer?

One of the reasons I chose this, is that both bottoms will go great with my yellow ruffled & pink gingham tops from Target (years ago) as well as my cute pinup-style suit. Plus, the red set is made by Freya (a bra brand), so I trusted it would hold up the ladies well - it does.

And also, THOSE FAKE POCKETS! I could die they're so cute.

Weekly Wants: fun prints

What do accordions, boats, and dinosaurs all have in common? I want them all!

I love shift dresses. I have three or four that I could just wear everyday. And those roller platforms? Are you kidding me? I need them because they are so awkwardly great!

Saturday Shoe - Loafin' Around

Loafers are pretty much my go-to shoe for day to day wear. I'm wearing black loafers now! They're just so convenient, and I can wear them with socks to keep my tootsies warm. The color of these is to die for! I have a hard time finding pretty orange things (and I adore tangerine), but these are a definite win!

Saturday Shoe - Red Laces

Lace up heels are great! I think that these red Irregular Choice heels would look great if you got a couple different colored ribbons to change out with your mood! White laces, black laces, patterns... yellow laces for a hotdog cookout!

Saturday Shoe - Gray Love

So I love oxfords. I love gray. and I love Le Bunny Bleu. This shoe just has so much going for it! Look at how beautifully it's tooled, gorgeous designs and great tassels! Le sigh. It's sold out in my size :(

Weekend Wears: Holiday Tulle

I just realized I didn't share one of my favorite recent outfits: my Christmas Eve 'tutu' look!
I love this tulle skirt! I felt like a ballerina all day. I have worn this skirt with a few different outfits lately, but I think this is my favorite so far!

Happy 80s New Year!

Hailey and I decided that this year we were going to ring in the year 1984! We did it in bright neons, black, and tights. Some of the guys wore 80s band shirts, but for the most part it was just the two of us dressed up, as usual.
For some reason I was having a hard time not getting blurry photos.

Saturday Shoe - Speedy Lady

This is the most amazing pair of heeled oxfords. Jeffrey Campbell, you get me every time! I love how they look like you're just standing on your toes or in the midst of a casual jog. I would love to snag these lovelies!

Weekend wears: Pearls & navy blues

I love this dress! It's not super short like my other navy lace dress, and the back is so much fun! I didn't feel like going bra-less this time, so I did wear a shirt underneath (doesn't look great). I must admit, I've been wearing these booties a lot lately. The heels don't make me feel too tall, since I'm already tall at 6 feet, and they're cute and comfortable.

Weekly Workwear: Spots & Coral

Bad pictures - the light was terrible and we were in a hurry!

Anyway, on Thanksgiving Eve my family always goes to the same Mexican restaurant and then to an indoor hot springs pool. The service is always slow, someone always gets in trouble at the pool for chucking balls (yes, usually this is the adult men), and we always have a lot of fun.

Unfortunately my aunt passed away this year, so she wasn't there. She is always the life of the party, and the whole tradition was a reminder that she is gone. For Thanksgiving day we went to Cameron's family's celebration. I didn't object to not going to my family's that day because once again, she'd be noticeably gone. It feels like I miss so much by her not being around.
I really love this dress. I got it for cheaps at Target a few months ago, and I love wearing it. It's got sweet turquoise straps. The cardigan was part of a buy one get one for a penny sale at Wet Seal. I'm wearing the plain tee I got for a penny right now!
This is at work earlier in the day. I obviously had cereal for breakfast and was knitting. If you look closely you'll see my label maker, a box full of name tags, and my striped boot slippers that have been under my desk since February. Sometimes my toesies get cold at work, people!

Weekend Wear: Peachy in Neutrals

I love this brown patterned dress. It's got a great drop-waist that makes me look extra thin in the waist and doesn't make my lovehandles look awful. You can't see the torso here, but it's mostly brown with a print on it, and there's a keyhole at the top.

I think that natural waist dresses sometimes make my legs look proportionately too long for my body, which is another reason I love drop-waist dresses (I'll let you in on a secret - my wedding dress has one too!). I even designed one for the last ModCloth Make the Cut competition... but none of my designs were chosen :)
Here's my peachy drop-waist dress design (the chevron fabric was part of the competition:

Look, the doggy wants to play! More like, the doggy wants to jump up and rip my tights...

Weekly Workwear: Denim & Stripes

I'm lucky when it comes to my workplace - I can wear almost anything I want. Unless we are having an event or clients are coming in, I can wear jeans, slippers, band shirts, pretty much anything. When I don't feel like dressing up for work, I like to lean toward 'business casual' with colored and dark jeans and simple tops or sweaters. This look is on the casual side for my work attire, but I think it would be appropriate if a client came in by surprise!

I love this striped top! It's from Old Navy but I got it for cheap at a thrift shop. The jeans and boots I've had for at least a year and the jacket I've had since college. I'm not shy about keeping around old clothes unless they're beat up. I never know when I'll have an urge to wear that denim dress with the cute pockets hidden at the back of my closet!

Holiday dress list!

I have been admiring pretty holiday frocks for weeks! I want to throw a fancy party just to have a reason to get one. I just can't justify one for just a family get-together where I would be the only one really dressed up. This never stops me from dressing up, but it may stop me from splurging on something shiny and new for the occasion.

This doesn't stop me from looking... so I've created a dress list for my fantasy holiday party. Maybe one will RSVP after all?

Weekly Workwear - Collars and Patterns

I love this new collared shirt I got. Sheer and airy - I can wear it with almost anything! I wore it like this all day to work, casual and untucked. Bright tank top, simple skirt, patterned tights, and simple flats. On another note, Cameron really needs to mow the lawn one more time!

Just as fun tucked in! I wore it this way when we went out to Chinese for dinner.

Obviously, the modelling part isn't my favorite. I like to wear fun clothes, and I love to share my style. But I'm so much more comfortable BEHIND the lens :)

Good morning! This was before I left for work. I felt like getting a snapshot on my way out the door.

Weekend Wears: Pumpkin Patch

This weekend I spent some time at a pumpkin patch for my cousin's birthday. It was a very disappointing pumpkin patch.... they harvested a cabbage field and put some pumpkins all over the ground. Not super exciting for a first pumpkin patch trip!

It was windy and sunny, not too chilly - a great day over all! After the patch we went out to sushi with some friends and then to a bar with a bunch of old arcade games. We killed it on Michael Jackson's Moonwalker. A game where 'dance' is the finishing move? Count me in.

Can you tell that Target is the closest store to my house? I love to stop by randomly and see what's new.
